Ryan Seacrest was born on December 24, 1974 in Atlanta to real estate lawyer Gary Lee Seacrest and to homemaker mother Constance Marie. His father has served as a lieutenant in the army while his grandfather, Henry Gene Skeen, was a major general. His parents have seen his interest in hosting since instead of playing some G.I. Joes toys, he will always have his little microphone and start doing shows in their house. He started attending the Dunwoody High School at age 14 and after two years of attending the school, he luckily won some internship at the 94.1 WSTR in Atlanta where he will be trained by Tom Sullivan about the many aspects of radio.
Seacrest had his chance to be put on air when one of the regular DJs on the show called in sick and Sullivan decided to put him on the air for the first time which eventually started broadcasting career. The management saw his potential and decided to give him the weekend overnight shift at the radio station. Seacrest continued to work at the WSTR until he graduated from the Dunwoody High School in 1992. This has started his interest in the broadcasting which eventually led him to take up journalism at the University of Georgia after high school.
While he studying in college, he continued doing radio programs at the local Athens station and he eventually left university at the age of 19 and decided to move to Hollywood in order to further pursue his career in broadcasting.
Just a year after he entered college, Seacrest was tasked to host the first season of Radical Outdoor Challenge on ESPN. He went on to host kids’ shows such as Gladiators 2000, Wild Animal Games and Click which lasted until 1997. This has jumpstarted his hosting career as his hosting stints followed one by one. He was chosen as the host for the fictional game show called Lover's Lane on the Beverly Hills 90210 episode The Final Proof. Just seven years after he started his hosting career, he was then chosen to host the The NBC Saturday Night Movie and during commercial breaks, he offered trivia regarding the film that was playing where the audience can win prizes if they answered correctly online on the NBCi.
The biggest break on Seacrest’s career came when he was chosen to co-host the Fox reality television series American Idol with the comedian Brian Dunkleman in 2002. After one season, the management decided for him to take over as the only host of the show which eventually increased his popularity as the show is being viewed by approximately 26 million viewers. This has made him among the best host in Hollywood and he eventually offered $45 million to continue hosting the show in 2009. His stint as the American Idol host continued to this day with him signing multimillion deals every time his contract expires. Ryan Seacrest is not the only person who made millions through American Idol, numerous Idol winners have amassed massive fortune because of the show.
As Ryan Seacrest became a household name, he started hosting numerous programs such as On Air with Ryan Seacrest on KIIS-FM, Live with Kelly and Ryan, and American Top 40. With his experience of hosting, he was able to see the behind the scenes of each show and decided to produce numerous shows on his own. Seacrest being Seacrest did not stop earning millions with American Idol, he realized that he was just a host in the show; it is someone else’s money maker. He started branching out from reality shows to red carpets to product pitchman to more TV and radio shows. The Kardashians helped him earn millions. Although Seacrest had his fair share of scandals, these did not hinder his yearly success.
He is the co-creator and executive producer of the show which led the stars to be millionaires and billionaires themselves as Ryan as the creator and producer earns his millions. Other than Keeping Up With the Kardashians, there are several shows that Seacrest are producing including some Rockin’ Eve where he was also a host, E! Live from the Red Carpet, Live with Kelly and Ryan, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, and 30 plus more shows. These shows earn Seacrest approximately $60 up to $80 million annually.
