Thor’s Hammer Could Be Yours For A Small Fortune

For fans of Thor, this is your chance to own one of the most famous props from the movie franchise – so long as you have a small fortune at your disposal, that is.

According to TMZ, Propstore’s Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction is set to be one of the biggest film prop auctions in history. Over 1,800 pieces of cinematic history will be on the auction block.

One of the most recognizable props will be the Stunt Mjolnir Hammer, the hammer that Chris Hemsworth has had by his side during the popular Marvel movies. It’s expected the hammer will fetch at least $100,000.

That’s a hefty price to pay for a single film prop but it’s not even the most expensive one going up for sale. The Teal Mango reports that the priciest item will be a “screen-matched ILM ‘Red Leader’ X-Wing Starfighter model miniature from ‘Star Wars: A New Hope.’” This could go for anywhere between $500,00 to $1 million.

Other impressive props set to go on sale include a full-size DeLorean time machine replica, which was previously used by Universal Studios for promotional events for the Back to the Future franchise. It’ll likely sell for anywhere between $150,000 to $200,000.

Wilson – the distressed volleyball from Tom Hanks’ award-winning film Cast Away – is also looking for a new owner. The iconic prop will likely go for $80,000 to $120,000.

Additionally, horror fans may be interested in the infamous black-and-red striped sweater (complete with a protruding blade) from the 2003 flick Freddy vs. Jason. It’ll sell for upwards of $15,000.

Overall, the auction expects to make $9 million from the total inventory. It's set to take place over three days from June 22 to 24 at Propstore’s auction house headquarters in Valencia California. It’ll also be streamed online.

This isn’t the only big prop auction taking place in summer. Turner Classic Movies and Julien’s Auctions teamed up to host a huge auction with over 1,400 props from July 15 to 17 at Julien’s Actions in Beverly Hills. They’ll be auctioning off items from classic movies like Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Pulp Fiction.

Some of the coolest items set to go on stale include dresses worn by Marilyn Monroe in flicks like Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and There’s No Business Like Show Business.

You’ll also be able to pick up a broomstick used by Draco Malfoy and Voldemort’s Elder Wand from the Harry Potter franchise as well as six Stormtrooper helmets from Star Wars: A New Hope.
