Harry Styles Teams Up With Gucci For One-Off Collection

Harry Styles is teaming up with Gucci to show that he’s got, well, style. Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele announced the collaborative effort — dubbed HA HA HA — that he designed with the English pop star, today in Milan. The capsule collection stems from a long friendship between the two— which began when the Watermelon Sugar singer was still a member of One Direction.

The 25-look collection, which is a cute play on the pair’s initials, is set to feature sports coats, flared pants, neckerchiefs, and glen-plaid topcoats. All the items feature an undeniable 70’s vibe and are ripe with earthy tones and liberal use of plaid.

“It was easier for him to design with me than for me to sing with him,” Michele said of his time working with the singer. He noted that inspiration taken from the decade of disco was no accident: “We were sharing for a long time images of eccentric men from that era.”

“He has an incredible sense of fashion; he is obsessed with clothes,” Michele said of the As It Was singer. “He keeps sketches and an archive; he could easily be a stylist or a designer, and is very free, representative of this new generation that is interested in so many things. I have been observing his ability to combine items of clothing in a way that is out of the ordinary compared to the required standards of taste and common sense and the homogenization of appearance.”

He added that Harry “has a very clear and precise point of view, on top of great instinct, and he chooses his clothes with much care. The idea of this capsule is banal in its simplicity, and it’s an act of love, but it has value; it’s sophisticated, and we paid a lot of attention to fabrics and sartorial details. It was a lighthearted activity and easy with this kind of relationship. But the result is serious.”

Harry is no stranger to the Italian fashion house, having appeared in multiple Gucci campaigns. The singer frequently dons Gucci gear, including his notorious 2021 Grammy performance in which he wore a risqué Gucci banana necklace.

The collection is set to hit Gucci stores in October.
