Perrie Edwards Is Engaged & Her Ring Is Worth Half A Million Dollars
After six years together, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Perrie Edwards are engaged. And it appears the football star spent a small fortune on the diamond ring he used to propose with.
Earlier this week, Perrie uploaded a series of images to Instagram from the proposal. The first few photos show Alex down on one knee as he asks for Perrie’s hand in marriage against a stunning sunset. The final shot includes a close-up of Perrie’s engagement ring – an large oval diamond set against a simple, thin band.
“Last night the love of my life got down on one knee and I said… YES!” Perrie captioned the slideshow.
The exact price of Perrie’s diamond is unknown, but estimates suggest the ring could be worth up to half a million dollars. Steven Stone’s Zack Stone estimates the ring is worth at least $122,000 USD.
"Featuring what looks to be a 6ct oval diamond, Perrie’s ring is sensational,” he explained. The stone is set on a thin yellow gold band - a style that accentuates the size of a ring's centre stone, making it look even more impressive."
Other experts estimate that the ring is worth even more. Neil Dutta, Managing Director of Angelic Diamonds, priced the ring at over $300,000.
“Alex has chosen a beautifully simplistic engagement ring for Perrie which matches their relationship perfectly and symbolizes his love for her,” he explained. “The ring is a classic solitaire design featuring an incredible 4-carat oval-cut diamond on a gold band worth $310,000.”
Neil added that it’s expected this style of ring will only grow in popularity in recent years.
Mike Fried of The Diamond Pro believes the ring is worth even more – easily half a million, to be exact. "Perrie Edwards' ring features a massive oval cut diamond that appears to be at least 10 to 12 carats. A diamond of this weight and size is incredibly rare and is likely worth a half-million dollars," he explained. "Crafted out of yellow or rose gold, her ring is both elegant and spectacular."
Alex and Perrie became first-time parents when the Little Mix singer delivered their son, Axel, last August. "Welcome to the world baby 21/08/21,” Perrie captioned a black and white image of the newborn. She originally revealed her pregnancy in May of the same year.
In 2020, Perrie hinted that she’d love to get engaged but she didn’t feel pressured to rush it. “I appreciate him, we don’t want to rush into it do you know what I mean? But it would be a definite yes from me I reckon!" she said at the time.
