Pride 2022: World's 10 Most Expensive Pride Parades, Ranked

A 2022 marks 53 years since the first stone was thrown at the Stonewall Inn in New York in 1969, which sparked the Stonewall riots and is considered the starting point of the revolution of the LGBTQ+ community. Since 1969, various actions have been taken in the United States and other countries worldwide for the liberation of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender rights. While the freedom to marry whomever a person wants has been achieved, the fight continues as Supreme Court justices could still overturn the decision.

Pride represents love and identity, and the celebration was put on pause for the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but LGBTQ+ celebrations have returned everywhere in the world, attracting millions of visitors to participate in activities, play music, and hoist the pride flags high in the air. Let’s take a look at the world’s most expensive pride parades.

10 San Francisco Pride Parade

San Francisco has been the gay capital of the USA since the 1960s due to its emerging LGBTQ+ communities. For the 52nd celebrations, San Francisco Board Directors have announced celebrity parade grand marshals to include Amy Schneider and Sherry Cola, as noted by SF Pride. Since 1997, $3 million in the revenue generated from the parade has been donated to LGBTQ+ organizations.
