This 35.56-carat diamond has been rumored to have been owned first by King Philip IV of Spain it was included in his daughter, Margarita Teresa’s dowry when she got engaged to Emperor Leopold I of Austria in 1664. Being part of the Austrian and Bavarian crown jewels for centuries, Renowned jeweler Laurence Graff had a good deal when he purchased the Wittelsbach diamond for $22 million and had it recut to 31.06 carats. Laurence Graff resold the diamond in 2011 to a member of the Qatari royal family for the staggering price of $80 million.

1 The Hope Diamond ($200-$250 million)
Found in Golconda, India in 1666, the hope diamond has changed hands a lot of times with the French royal family being its first owners after it was purchased by King Louis XIV who dubbed it the “French Blue” in 1668. It left their possession in 1792 when it was stolen amidst the looting of crown jewels during the French revolution and wouldn't reappear until 1839 when it appeared in the gem collection catalog of Henry Philip Hutton. In 1949, Jeweler Harry Winston purchased this Jewel which he’d later donate to the Smithsonian Institute where it has been on display to date. Its present value is put between $200 million and $250 million.
