This Is What Makes Poseidon Underwater Resort One Of The Most Expensive Hotels In The World

The Poseidon Undersea Resorts may be one of the most expensive destinations for travel ever created. Just off the coast of Fiji, the world’s first underwater resort features luxury accommodations and adventure that seems out of this world.

A creation by L. Bruce Jones, president of US Submarines Inc., the resort is located 40 feet under the water and includes undersea restaurants, spas, a golf course, fitness center, conference center and even an underwater chapel for a unique wedding experience.

Take a look at just how expensive this magical resort will cost and the numerous amenities offered for those of us who are searching for the next big adventure.

According to Guide Tropical, a seven-day, six- night stay will run approximately $15,000 per person or $30,000 per couple. The five-star resort offers lodging on a private beach, on the water, or below the surface. The entire property is located on 38,000 square feet and is one and a half miles in length. The underwater pressurized suites are built with clear acrylic glass from floor to ceiling giving guests a panoramic view of the underwater marine life.

Though you may want to make an immediate call to your travel agent, Poseidon management admits to an overwhelming interest in the underwater facilities. Over 150,000 people have already registered for the adventure and they only have the capacity to serve 7,200 reservations per year. With clear interest, however, the staff at Poseidon Undersea Resorts are already looking for a second location and hopefully, it will be up and running soon.

Much like a luxury five-star hotel above the ocean, guests will find a top-of-the-line king sized bed with luxury linens, a lounge area, Wi-Fi with high-speed Internet access, a high-definition flat screen TV with surround sound and a stocked refrigerator with gourmet snacks, French champagne, fine wine and soft drinks. Bathrooms include a large whirlpool tub, double sinks and shower. Those transparent walls can also be made opaque for guests looking for privacy.

Guests will have the ability to push a button and feed the fish outside and each suite has its own underwater lights controllable from inside the room to view after dark. According to Poseidon Resorts, each suite also includes its own exterior coral garden, so if you’d like to spend your time simply staring out the window and enjoying the marine life, that would be understandable. However, for those adventure-seekers, there is so much more.

The resort includes two restaurants: one on land and one underwater, where chefs create local seafood and other specialty dishes. According to Azure Azure, there is a shop with scuba diving gear, movie theater, library, fitness rooms, spas, a nine-hole golf course, tennis courts and swimming pools. For those that love to shop, there is a boutique offering handmade items, spa products, custom made jewelry and more.

Climb aboard the 16 passenger Triton luxury submarine and explore the lagoon’s deep reefs, go scuba diving or explore the reefs on foot with Sea Trek. If you care to explore the ocean with your personal party, submarine pilots are on hand to show guests how to operate an individual or smaller submarine ‘pod’. Plenty of water-themed sports are available such as parasailing, kayaking, deep-sea diving, cave exploration and windsurfing, giving guests the time of their life in an ocean-themed oasis.

Wedding consultants are standing by for first-time nuptials or renewing your vows. The undersea chapel gives the bride and groom an ever-changing backdrop of the ocean floor and the space can be transformed to a dance floor and sit-down dining arrangements. If couples prefer, the private beach offers another beautiful setting for the once in a lifetime occasion.

All of this underwater adventure may give some pause as to the safety of dining, sleeping and dancing under the ocean. According to the designers, the resort is built similar to a submarine – the safest form of transportation available. Built with rigid safety requirements and structural integrity, each ‘pod’ or suite is designed separate from the main hall or other rooms. Guests will receive a tour of safety features by trained divers and learn what to do in an emergency but not to worry, tourist submarines carry more than one million passengers each year and have a perfect safety record.
