A Peek Inside Donald And Ivana Trump’s 5.8-Acre Greenwich Mansion

Donald and his wife Ivana Trump purchased their initial home in 1982, five years after getting married. The future president and Ivana purchased a stately property in Greenwich, Connecticut, with approximately 20,000 square feet for $4 million when they were only 35 and 33, respectively, according to Love Property. The former president who had numerous celebrity supporters and Ivana Trump, who have three children together, Ivanka, Donald Jr., and Eric, wed in 1977 and spent $4 million on their first home in Greenwich.

When they first met in 1976, Donald promised to help her party secure a table at a bar on the Upper East Side. He must have charmed her since they married less than a year later. Ivana strengthened her status inside the Trump Organization throughout their marriage by serving as the vice president of interior design and then as the president of the Plaza Hotel and Trump's casino in Atlantic City. Ivana won the house in the divorce settlement. She made a profit when she sold it for $15 million after the relationship broke up when she learned he was having an extramarital affair with Marla Maples. Let's take a look inside their opulent home despite a contentious divorce.

Donald purchased the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan in the early 1980s, and Ivana remodeled it then. The two were regarded as the pinnacle 1980s power couple for the duration of their 15-year marriage. Ivana was frequently cited as contributing to developing their public image and the family business. Donald's wife assisted him in creating his Manhattan empire and oversaw the interior designs of some of his most recognizable structures. She used many of the same materials to decorate their new house, turning it into a place covered in gold leaf, with tasteful chandeliers, crown moldings, and a double-grand staircase. The Trump family first built their 5.8-acre house in Greenwich, Connecticut, in 1939. Along with an eight-bedroom main house, it also contains a guest house with thirteen bathrooms, a tennis court, a pool, and staff housing on the exterior. Visitors are welcomed inside this opulent residence by double staircases in the foyer.

After their rocky marriage, Ivana gained ownership of the home as part of the divorce settlement and turned a profit when she sold it for $15 million after learning he had an adulterous affair with Marla Maples. Despite a bitter divorce, let's have a look inside their luxurious home. There are eight bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, a three-story rotunda entryway with a double-grand staircase, formal spaces, and vistas of Long Island Sound in the 20,000-square-foot Georgian Colonial main home and guest house. The house also has three completely furnished staff apartments, a home theater, a putting green, numerous terraces and patios, and tennis courts.

Ivana received $14 million, the Greenwich estate, and a Trump Plaza apartment as part of their divorce deal in 1992. The Trumps bought the residence for $4 million in 1982, and Ivana kept it after the couple's 1991 divorce. She sold the house for $15 million in 1998, and the new owners immediately started remodeling it to tone it down, adding tennis courts, an indoor lap pool, a sauna, and a 4,000 square-foot addition with guest apartments.

Ivana passed away on July 14 in her apartment in New York City. Her original home, which has been sold and bought multiple times since the divorce of the couple were finalized, is now the subject of increased interest in the days after her passing. Due to its regal design and grandeur, it has been considered the ideal depiction of how the wealthy socialite spent her life. The mansion's most recent listing was made by its new owners in 2018 for $45 million. It was subsequently reduced to $38.5 million before being taken off the market.

The house belonged to Ivana after Trump and Ivana's early 1990s divorce, and she later sold it to the Steinbergs. Ivana received the place in her divorce from the millionaire, and Robert and Suzanne Steinberg purchased it from her in 1998 for $15 million, a then-record price for a single-family home in Greenwich. The interior splendor was toned down, but a tennis court, indoor pool, and sauna were installed. In October 2014, the house was initially advertised for $54 million. In 2016, the cost was decreased to $45 million.

When the Steinbergs moved in, there was the significantly more gold decor, according to the previous listing agent Tamar Lurie of Coldwell Banker, who stated to The Journal in 2018: When Donald and Ivana owned it, they had it furnished quite lavishly. Since then, the Steinbergs have redecorated the decors of the mansion, and the Journal claims they have intermittently tried to sell the house since 2009. When it was relisted in 2014, the price went from $50 million to $54 million. Earlier last spring, the most current asking price was $45 million. A challenging period for Greenwich real estate has led to the most recent price reduction. According to a recent Bloomberg report, people no longer purchase the expansive, recognizable houses in Greenwich at the same pace they once did. Many more significant properties are still on the market as buyers shift toward smaller condos. Joseph Barbieri of Sotheby's International Realty is now in charge of the listing for the former Trump residence.
