Erika Girardi Facing $55M Lawsuit That Claims She Knew Of Hubby’s Fraud

Erika Girardi continues to deny culpability in her husband’s criminal actions, but the reality star is facing a new lawsuit that claims she had “specific knowledge” of his plans to steal millions.

According to Us Weekly, court documents reveal the complaint was launched by Edelson PC, which has named Erika in addition to number of defendants who allegedly were aware of Tom Girardi’s schemes. They are being accused of various criminal activities, including “racketeering, conspiracy to commit racketeering, deceit, aiding and abetting concealment of stolen property.”

The documents state that “Erika knew of the scheme,” a reference to Tom’s alleged plot to take steal money from the families of victims of the 2018 Lion Airplane crash in Indonesia.

“Erika knew of the scheme, intended to participate in it and — critically — share in its profits, both directly and through her wholly-owned company, EJ Global,” the documents explain.

The complaint continues, “Despite her public claims that she and Tom were spending their own money, financial records show that more than $25 million of her own expenses were paid by [Tom’s firm].”

The lawsuit alleges Erika’s company EJ Global was conceived with the primary purpose of transferring money from Tom’s law firm to Erika’s control.

It references Erika’s time on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, where she became known for her excessive spending. The lawsuit claims her reputation for shopping and luxury taste adds context to why she needed money directly under her control.

The court documents allege that the Bravo series is proof of Erika’s “never-ending parade of designer clothes and high-end jewelry, her $250,000 Lamborghini Huracán, and her personal 24/7 ‘glam squad’ team that she paid $40,000 per month to pick out her clothes and do her hair and makeup.”

Edelson PC is seeking $55 million in damages in addition to the creation of a trust to benefit the victims of Tom and Erika’s alleged scheme.

Erika has been named in multiple investigations and lawsuits since her husband lost his attorney’s license in 2021.

Recently, the reality star lost her battle to keep a pair of $750,000 earrings that her husband gifted her. It was determined the earrings were bought using stolen funds, so Erika was ordered to return the jewelry to pay back the victims of her husband’s fraud.

Erika originally filed for divorce from Tom in 2020, though nothing has been officialised. However, the couple have been accused of faking their divorce in order to hide assets. They’ve been married since 2000.
