Paul Walker’s 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera Is Going Up For Auction

Nearly a decade after his death, Paul Walker’s 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 is going up for auction.

The Porsche will be one of many eye-catching vehicles auctioned off at the 2022 Monterey Car Week via Mecum Auctions. Other models going on the auction block include a 1934 Packard Custom Convertible Sedan and a 2012 Ferrari LaFerrari Prototype MP.

Painted in a light yellow color, the Porsche 911 currently has 93,774 kilometers (58,268 miles) on its odometer. It features a chrome trim on the windows and headlights as well as a black interior.

“Formerly owned by the late famed actor Paul Walker of the ‘Fast and Furious’ film franchise, this striking 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 is one of a mere 1,580 produced,” the auction listing says. “And it will soon join the Mecum Monterey auction lineup headed for the block this August.

Walker previously revealed the Porsche was an impulse buy during an interview with Jay Leno. He agreed to buy it without seeing it in person after finding an online ad in 2011.

The car, which has been fully restored and refined by Mecum Auctions, comes with FIA paperwork and a Porsche certificate of authenticity.

It’s unclear how much the starting price of the car will be at the auction. Interested buyers are required to register on Mecum Auction’s website prior to Monterey Car Week, which begins on August 18. The car will be up for sale on August 20.

Known for his role as Brian O’Conner in the Fast and Furious franchise, Paul had a number of impressive cars to his name before his death.

According to Go Mechanic, Paul’s car collection was estimated to be worth $2.3 million. Some of his rides included a BMW M3, a 2000 Audi S4, a 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302S Race Car, and a 2009 Nissan 370Z “Fast Five.”

Paul died in a car crash in 2013. His friend Roger Rodas was behind the wheel of a Carrera GT when it crashed. He was reportedly speeding at 100 miles per hour when the single-car collision took place. Paul’s daughter Meadow Walker and his father Paul Walker III both filed wrongful death lawsuits. Rodas’ widow also filed her own lawsuit.

Porsche denied wrongdoing and claimed the car had been “misused and improperly maintained.” A judge also determined there was no evidence to suggest Porsche was at fault. Eventually, however, the lawsuits were settled out of court.
