Teasing A ‘High School Musical’ Return, Vanessa Hudgens Buys $7.3M Home
Vanessa Hudgens just made a big investment after teasing a return to the High School Musical franchise.
The actress bought the 5-bedrooms, 5 bathroom estate for a cool $7.5 million. With over 7,000 square feet of living space, the home features numerous balconies, an infinity pool, and sweeping views of the San Fernando Balcony.
The structure was originally built in 1963. However, the home was fully rebuilt just this year in a modern farmhouse design.
The neighbourhood is familiar to Vanessa. Her now home is almost next-door to the first property she ever bough – a sprawling Studio City Home that she purchased in 2008 for $2.75 million. The actress lived in the 6-bedroom, 6.5 bathroom estate for over a decade until she listed it for sale in 2019 for a slight profit at $3.85 million.
Reports at the time said Vanessa had done a variety of renovations to the property during her time living there. This included painting the exterior a fresh white and adding Moorish design elements throughout the two-story home. In total, the property had 5,200 square feet of living space.
“I wanted to make sure that what I was doing would add to the history,” Vanessa previously told Architectural Digest of the remodel. “I think there’s a beauty to homes that have been passed down, that have marks from previous residents.”
Vanessa’s decision to sell her first home was likely motivated by a purchase she made the year prior. In 2018, the former Disney star acquired a gated estate in LA’s Los Feliz neighbourhood. She bought it in an off-market deal from Gary Oldman for $5 million.
Prior to that, she reportedly bought a one-bedroom apartment in New York’s Williamsburg for a little under $1 million.
Vanessa’s new home is double the price of the last one she offloaded, which may signal big things happening in the former teen star’s career. Even more proof is that she was recently teasing a High School Musical reunion with her former co-star (and ex-boyfriend) Zac Efron.
On Friday, Zac shared an image of himself in front of Salt Lake High School East, where most of the HSM franchise was filmed. “Don’t you… Forget about me,” he captioned the picture.
Vanessa may have even been along with Zac for the photoshoot. Last month, the actress revealed she had recently returned to the high school.
“I was actually there because my boyfriend [baseball player Cole Tucker] was playing there, and I was there with him and I was like, ‘I gotta go to East High,” she told Entertainment Tonight.
“I had rented a car and I just drove myself down there with Darla, my puppy, and took her out and stood on the streets,” Vanessa continued. “It was great because it was summer vacation so there was nobody there. It felt like a wasteland and it was just such a blast from the past.”
Perhaps the HSM cast is starting to think of a reunion!
