‘Yellowstone’ Star Q'Orianka Kilcher Stole $96,000 In Disability Fraud

Yellowstone's Q'orianka Kilcher is facing a number of charges after committing disability fraud.

On Monday, the California Department of Insurance released a statement revealing the actress was collecting disability benefits while filming for the hit show. She allegedly told a doctor in October 2019 she was too injured to work.

Kilcher proceeded to collect $96,838 in disability benefits from Oct. 14, 2019, through Sept. 9, 2021. She began receiving disability payments five days after she concluded filming the third season of Yellowstone, which lasted for several months.

Yahoo News! Reports that the actress suffered a neck injury while filming Dora and the Lost City of Gold in 2018. She reportedly saw a doctor “a few times that year,” but stopped treatment and “did not respond to the insurance company handling her claim on behalf of her employer.”

The following year, she allegedly reached out to her insurance provider to request further treatment. She claimed she’d passed on various work opportunities due to the severity of her injury. However, she neglected to inform the insurance provider she had been filming season three of Yellowstone.

Now, Kilcher is facing two felony counts of workers’ compensation fraud. She self-surrendered in May, but pleaded not guilty to the charges in a Los Angeles court last month.

After reviewing wage information from her employer, the investigation found Kilcher had worked as an actress on the television show ‘Yellowstone’ from July 2019 to October 2019, despite her statements to the doctor that she had been unable to work for a year,” the California Department of Insurance.

The doctor who authorized her disability benefits has stated they never would’ve approved it had they “been aware” of her employment history.

Kilcher appeared to respond to the controversy on Tuesday with a cryptic post made to Instagram. Sharing a drawing of a woman on the phone, the image read. “So, you only heard one side of the story and chose to believe it. Well now, that makes you as smart as paste doesn't it."

However, Kilcher has since deleted her Instagram page. The actress hasn’t responded to requests for a comment.

The German-American actress portrayed Angela Blue Thunder in Yellowstone’s third season. She’s also known for her roles in The New World (2005), The Alienist (2020), and Te Alta (2016).
