Gigi Hadid Just Launched Her Own Luxury Cashmere Line

Gigi Hadid is the latest celebrity to launch her own clothing brand, Guest In Residence.

The supermodel debuted her label at a celebratory dinner at Le Chalet in New York City on September 6th. It was a star-studded affair, with famous faces like Bella Hadid, Taylor Swift, and Emily Ratajkowski making an appearance.

Guest in Residence features all-cashmere pieces. For now, the line includes a series of staple items, like joggers, hoodies, scarves, and beanies. The pieces became available to shop on September 7th.

But Gigi is reportedly working on limited-edition drops for the future.

The model "conceived to honor and evoke a fresh appreciation and respect for the timeless designs, materials and craftsmanship of heritage heirlooms for all generations,” a press release explains.

With the clothing pieces made from 100% cashmere, it’s unsurprising that they carry a high price tag. A cardigan on Guest In Residence’s website costs $365, while a pair of pants is $415. Most pieces are available in an XS to an XXL.

Speaking to Vogue, Gigi explained she first came up with the idea for the brand when she was pregnant with her daughter, Khai, during the height of the pandemic.

Gigi had been hunkering down at her family’s farm at Pennsylvania, when she realized she wanted to create a line of cozy, high-quality pieces.

“I think a lot of people assumed that starting my own brand would be the next natural step,” she explained. “But I wasn’t trying to rush it. I knew that something would come to me that felt right, that had integrity to it.”

Over two years later, Gigi’s clothing brand is now live and ready for consumption.

However, the supermodel isn’t the only celebrity to recently release a cashmere clothing collection. Brad Pitt’s new brand God’s True Cashmere also features 100% cashmere pieces.

The Burn After Reading star launched the brand in collaboration with Amrit jewellery designer Sat Hari. They started working on the collection in 2019, and it just debuted in London’s Selfridges department stores this month.

"[Cashmere] has elegance, quality, and comfort," Brad said of why he chose cashmere. "It's also something that you can keep for a lifetime—something you can hand down and become heirlooms."

But the actor’s collection carries a higher price-point than Gigi’s brand, with a single button-down shirt costing $1,640 (though it uses semi-precious stones in replace of traditional buttons).
