Harry Styles Canceled His First-Ever Show In Chicago

British singer, songwriter, and actor Harry Styles' concert tonight at United Center postponed until Monday.

The first of a series of six Harry Styles concerts at the United Center, scheduled for Thursday night, was postponed due to an illness among the band and crew.

Though his six-night stint of shows in Chicago for his Love on Tour tour was scheduled to start Thursday, the singer postponed the first show "out of an abundance of caution," according to a tweet from the venue, per PEOPLE.

The United Center in Chicago continued, "Tonight's Harry Styles show on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at United Center has been rescheduled to Monday, October 10, 2022 due to band/crew illness."

Styles' residency-style "Love on Tour" has seen him play multiple dates at several large cities, including a 15-show stay at Madison Square Garden in New York from late August through late September.

According to NBC Chicago, The Chicago leg follows a recently wrapped up six-show run in Austin, Texas, where he performed on the campus of the University of Texas. Styles last performed in Chicago in Sept. 2021, where he performed to two sellout crowds at the United Center on back-to-back nights.

Fans were seen camping outside the United Center Thursday morning to reserve their spot in line ahead of doors opening for tonight's scheduled show.

The news of the cancellation sparked outrage from fans on Twitter, many of whom traveled from other states and are not able to attend the rescheduled show date.

A month ahead of Styles' scheduled stay in Chicago, the cheapest tickets for the shows were priced at approximately $250 on the secondary market.

Some fans set up tents in which they had been camped out since Tuesday.

These fans already have general admission tickets, but they wanted to be the first to get wristbands. The earlier they are in line, the closer they get to the stage. The wristbands were handed out Thursday.

The United Center staff has been letting the fans inside the building to use the facilities.

Some tents remained in place Thursday night, filled with people already in line for the planned concert on Saturday.

We met people from all over the country who were scheduled to go to the concert Thursday evening, but they just won't be able wait until the makeup concert Monday. They are obviously pretty devastated, per CBS News.

The Burbanos, in town from Miami, were some of the first in line for the harry styles concert. They spent the night in a tent outside the United Center, only to receive the heartbreaking message canceling Thursday night's concert.

"And now we are going to stay until Monday. We rescheduled our flights," said Sofi Burbano. "I have to email my teachers that I'm missing more school."

She said "Harry Styles is worth it" when it comes to missing school.

"We extended the pet sitter, called my boss - be a few more days before we get there," said Kara Burbano, adding that conditions were "very cold for us Miamians."

You didn't have to look far Thursday night to see the devastation and disappointment. But not everyone can stick around for Monday's rescheduled concert, leaving some out thousands of dollars in travel and ticket costs.

"I probably have spent $4,000 on Harry Styles," said Morgan Smith, who traveled from New Jersey for the concert. "I'm like devastated, because they rescheduled it, but we can't stay. I have to work all weekend back home."

"I skipped two days of school for this," said Annie Cater, who traveled from Georgia for the concert. "I would stay for Monday, but I physically can't afford to risk it with school."

Meanwhile, one group of cousins are getting close this weekend - already camped out for the concert on Saturday. De Mar asked them, if someone said they were crazy for camping out 48 hours ahead of time, what would they say?

"They're crazy if they don't like Harry," one cousin said. "It's just worth it to me. I don't know if you've ever seen Harry in person, I guess. He's just an amazing person."

All previously purchased tickets will be honored for Monday. So will those wristbands for which all the people in the tents were waiting. And while it was disappointing for some, most people we spoke to were pretty understanding of the situation.

Styles' scheduled dates for the Chicago residency were Oct. 6, Oct. 8-9, Oct. 13-15. Originally, Styles was scheduled for just five shows in Chicago before later adding the Oct. 15 date following the tour's initial announcement.

Thursday's concert will be rescheduled for Monday, Oct. 10, and all previously purchased tickets will be honored for Monday's show. Ticketholders will receive emails from Ticketmaster with further information.
