Meghan Markle Gave Shocking Christmas Gift To Prince William
Meghan Markle has a conflicted relationship with the royal family, and it didn’t help things when she gifted Prince William an eyebrow-raising gift for Christmas years ago.
According to reports, during the first Christmas she spent with Prince Harry’s family in 2017, Meghan gifted his brother Prince William engraved spoon with the words “cereal killer” engraved into the metal.
William was apparently amused by the punny gift. “Meghan's biggest challenge was finding the perfect novelty gifts to amuse her new extended family,” one source said.
"At least one of her gifts was a huge hit – a spoon for William that had 'cereal killer' embossed on the shallow bowl end of the utensil,” they added.
However, the joke didn’t land well with everyone. Some reports say other members of the royal family were “shocked” by Meghan’s unique gift.
In recent years, Harry and Meghan haven’t been celebrating the holidays with his family in the U.K. The couple gave up their royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California, after a difficult relationship with the royals.
Since moving to the U.S., Harry and Meghan welcomed a second child, daughter Lilibet, in 2021. They’ve also cemented their careers in the entertainment industry, including signing a $100 million deal with Netflix to produce content.
Last year, the couple spent Christmas in California with Meghan’s family, and it’s suspected they did the same this year.
But this may be their final Christmas at their current address. Earlier this year, it was reported that Harry and Meghan are house hunting for an even bigger property. They’re reportedly willing to spend up to $22 million on a new place.
The couple currently live in a Montecito mansion that they bought for $14.7 million in 2020. It comes with over 18,000 square feet of living space and sits on 7.4 acres.
Harry and Meghan received flack earlier this year when it was revealed the home featured in their new documentary Harry and Meghan isn’t their real home. The pair filmed in an estate just down the street from their actual home and is currently on the market for $30 million.
Some critics accused the couple of wanting to use a fancier house in the documentary to feel wealthier, whereas other reports suggest they did so out of privacy concerns.
The duo haven’t addressed the rumors, but with other projects underway thanks to their Netflix agreement, fans can expect to see more of Harry and Meghan’s personal life up close soon.
