6 Earns: Guitar Auction

 

According to Rolling Stone, his rare guitar collection sold for millions at Christie’s auction house in New York in 2019. His iconic Black Strat guitar sold for an estimated $5.7 million making it the most expensive guitar to be auctioned off. The Martin D-35 acoustic guitar was sold for more than $1 million, and the 1955 Gibson Les Paul, famed for the guitar solo on Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2), was auctioned off for more than $580,000. The event also raised over $30 million for ClientEarth, which fights climate change.

It also supplied rare collectible aircraft for shows in the 90s. The 8,000 square feet colossal property has a recording studio, a cottage, and ample parking space. It offers stunning English Channel views and is currently on the market. David used to live in a $12 million 11-bedroom Hook End Manor, a charming 25-acre English country mansion he purchased in 1980. He later sold the property for an undisclosed amount, and the Floyd frontman now resides in a farmhouse in the picturesque West Sussex village.

David centers his music tours around releasing his solo albums, and he toured Europe in 2006 to support his Live on an Island solo album. In 2015 Gilmour toured UK and Europe, starting from Croatia on 12th September and concluding at the Royal Albert Hall, London, on 23rd September. These dates coincided with his Rattle the Lock album release. The 2015 tour was a commercial success earning an estimated $47 million through 288,997 in ticket sales.
