Inside Zayn Malik's Soho Penthouse & What The Former 1D Frontman He's Been Up To Lately

With a reported net worth of $75 million, it’s no surprise that Zayn Malik has an impressive real estate portfolio. The singer first got his start as a part of One Direction, which launched him as well as the other members to international fame. Before long, Zayn launched his solo career to critical acclaim and is continuing to put out new music despite keeping a low profile publicly.

But one headline-grabbing moment from 2018 was when the singer bought a $10 million bachelor pad following his break-up from his on-and-off girlfriend, Gigi Hadid. The stunning features of the luxury apartment explain its high price. But despite the amenities, it wasn’t long before Zayn put it back on the market. Here’s everything we know about Zayn’s Soho penthouse and why he was so quick to sell it.

The day that Zayn bought the apartment was significant – he reportedly signed papers the same day he and Gigi Hadid announced their break-up in March 2018.

Of course, the two would go on to reconcile, and later welcomed a daughter, Khai, in 2020 before splitting for good the following year. But many outlets in 2018 began referring to Zayn’s Soho apartment as his 'bachelor pad' given the timing.

The former One Direction singer spent $10.69 million on the penthouse. With over 3,500 square feet of living space, it comes with 4-bedrooms and 4-bathrooms.

Some of the condo’s features include 12-foot barrel vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, cast iron columns, and exposed brick walls. There’s also a custom steel staircase that leads to a private roof top terrace with 932 square feet of space.

The luxury apartment building was originally built in the 1800s and functioned as a silk showroom. Now, it’s been converted into 23 individual units.

The media may know the Soho penthouse as Zayn’s bachelor pad, but it may not have been intended to be that way. According to a report by the New York Post, Zayn put in an offer on Valentine’s Day in 2018.

He would’ve still been with Gigi at the time, which led to speculation that he may have been buying it for the two of them.

The couple must’ve broken up after he signed the papers, so Zayn may not have had a choice but to go through with it post-break up. But given how soon he sold it, he appears to have regretted it.

Only a little over a year after buying the penthouse, Zayn listed it on the market for $10.8 million, only slightly higher than what he originally bought it for.

Not only was the apartment likely a reminder of his relationship with Gigi, assuming the pair were planning to go in on it together, but it was also mere blocks from her Bond Street apartment. The neighbourhood probably carried a lot of memories for Zayn, and he may have even ran into his ex, given the close proximity.

Interestingly, the Soho penthouse wasn’t the only home Zayn was trying to sell at the time. He listed two other properties shortly after the purchase.

In California, the singer had also listed his Bel Air mansion. He originally listed it in October 2018 for nearly $3.5 million, a few months after buying the Soho pad. However, when it didn’t sell by July 2019, he reduced the asking price to $3.2 million.

Zayn also put his North London mansion up for $4.6 million the same month.

With a reputation for living in different states, Zayn eventually relocated to Pennsylvania to be with Gigi Hadid when they were expecting their daughter. Gigi’s family has property in the state, and she felt it was more private in order to keep her pregnancy from the press.

For a time, the duo were reportedly living in Yoland’s Bucks County farmhouse in Pennsylvania alongside their daughter, until Zayn reportedly moved out in February 2021. At the time, it was reported that Zayn was looking into getting a place of his own in the area in order to remain close to Khai.

As of recent, Zayn’s real estate profile has been on the down low, and so has much of his personal life, too, since the explosive fight he got into with Yolanda Hadid, Gigi’s mother, which allegedly was the catalyst for their break-up.

The singer eventually plead no contest in October 2021 to charges stemming over the domestic disturbance, which apparently occurred when Gigi was out of town.

Reports say Zayn and Gigi remain committed to peacefully co-parenting, but despite the nature of their on-and-off relationship, things may be permanently over, as they’ve both moved on with other people.

Most recently, Gigi was reportedly dating Leonardo DiCaprio, though the romance has apparently fizzled out, while Zayn was linked to Selena Gomez earlier this month. Who knows – perhaps Zayn’s next real estate purchase will be with his new rumored girlfriend.
