Inside Vanderpump Rules' Tom & Katie’s $2.75 Million California Home

Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney’s relationship has played out for 10 years on Vanderpump Rules. In season 1, Katie and Tom were in the early stages of a secure and loving relationship. As time went on in front of the Bravo cameras, cracks in their relationship began to unravel. The couple had a few infidelities and battled staying together through starting their own respective businesses. And while the net worth of the Vanderpump Rules cast continued to grow, Katie and Tom’s relationship did not, leading to the demise of their marriage and California home. Boss, mentor, and friend, Lisa Vanderpump, has remained a stable figure in the former couple’s lives but she couldn't save their relationship.

In 2019, the former couple bought a beautiful home in Valley Village, California, not far from their Vanderpump Rules cast members Jax Taylor and Tom Sandoval. In fact, Maloney and Schwartz's home was right down the street from their castmates. Refinery 29 states that Maloney and Schwartz only lived a mile away from Sandoval and Ariana Madix. Owning a home of this size and (a hefty price tag) was no longer feasible for the pair and, according to OK!, it went up for sale just three years after the two purchased it.

TMZ shared that Maloney and Schwartz put their home on the market for $2.7 million. According to Zillow, the house was built in 2016 on .14 acres of land and had navy shutters with a white coat of paint. At 3,600 square feet, the two-story Cape Cod had plenty of space for them and their two dogs, Butters and Gordo. The farmhouse-style house was shown frequently on Vanderpump Rules and showed that although they always had gatherings, they also had plenty of privacy thanks to the large trees and greenery that surrounded their area. In a suburban neighborhood with plenty of green space, this California home isn't the most expensive celebrity home but it's gorgeous in its own right.

During some of the final days of living in their once-loved home, Maloney shared a picture of her sitting in her spacious home on Instagram detailing how hard it was to sell the house they made as a couple. Selling their home was also the nail in the coffin that their relationship was done. "Closing this chapter on my life feels like attending my own funeral," Maloney wrote. However, the end of their relationship and saying goodbye to their home meant a new chapter of happy endings for the pair.

As stunning as the outside of their Cape Cod-styled home was, the inside was just as nice. Viewers saw Maloney and Schwartz's style mesh to create a modern and cozy vibe. Zillow noted that the house had light-colored hardwood floors with plenty of windows for natural light. The high ceilings and beams made the home open and airy for guests and family. And while it was just Katie and Tom who lived there, the house had four bedrooms and five bathrooms sprinkled throughout. Even cooler was that the Los Angeles home had three lavish fireplaces that made the home feel like an oasis.

Being in California, as important as the inside of the home was the outside was where most of the cast were seen filming. Their kitchen flowed into the living room, which had a moveable wall for guests to move easily inside and outside to the former couple's backyard. With a modern pergola and outdoor fireplace, guests could sit by the fire or go for a dip in the sauna that's attached to a relaxing pool. The home was made for entertaining with its modern amenities, state-of-the-art appliances, and open floor plan.

According to Radar, a few weeks after Schwartz and Maloney put their Cape Cod on the market, they lowered the price by $154,000. By lowering the price that much, fans of Vanderpump Rules realized how quickly the couple wanted to get out of their former dream home. By the summer of 2022, the pair got their wish. Someone swooped in and bought their multi-million dollar private home for $2.45 million. This was a $670,000 profit for the reality TV stars after buying the home in 2019 for $1.9 million, according to Reality Blurb.

All the while, Katie and Tom helped each other find new apartments that were later shown on season 10 of the reality show. Bravo showed off Katie Maloney’s apartment in the same area as her former home, which she described as “deco feminine chic” on Twitter. And while Katie loves living alone and decorating the apartment how she wants, Tom said on Katie’s You’re Gonna Love Me podcast (via Bravo) that it took some time for him to enjoy apartment living. He continued saying “It’s just, living in a small, little apartment that you have to pay $3,500 a month for? It’s hard not to be salty. You know what I mean? It’s smaller than my apartment in college.”

Since the Bravo celebrities couldn't afford their home on their own, are now divorced, and live in separate apartments, they can truly move on and start new eras, which has been delicately shown in season 10 of Vanderpump Rules. However, this gorgeous Valley Village home will have a spot in fans' hearts since it was a huge part of the former couple's storyline.
