Reese Witherspoon & Jim Toth Finalize Divorce In Only Four Months Thanks To Tight Prenup

While there are many Hollywood divorces that carry on for years, Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth’s wasn’t one of them. The former couple’s divorce has been finalized only four months after she filed in the court.

Jim and Reese both agreed and signed to a dissolution of marriage as well as a custody plan for their 10-year-old son, Tennessee.

"We have some personal news to share,” the pair shared in a joint statement announcing their divorce in April. "It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together.”

"Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter,” the statement went on. “These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone's respect for our family's privacy at this time."

It was previously reported that Reese and Jim signed a prenup before their 2011 marriage, which likely helped make their split smoother. As a talent manager, he’s worth approximately $20 million, which pales in comparison to her $400 million net worth.

When Reese filed for divorce, it was reported that she asked for their asset to be divided as per their prenup. She also asked for joint custody of their son. Jim didn’t challenge her request.

It’s unclear exactly how the exes split their estate, but they had a number of properties between the two of them.

Some reports suggest the pair had been preparing over the last few years for a break-up. Reese sold her media company Hello Sunshine for $900 million, which Jim co-owned with her. They also offloaded properties in Malibu, Los Angeles, and Nashville in recent years.

"They decided their marriage wasn’t going to last forever and that they should have a plan for splitting up their assets that wouldn’t destroy what they built together,” a source told Us Weekly.

Reese and Jim’s divorce may have come as a shock to fans as they were nearing their 12th wedding anniversary, but at least it didn’t become a high-profile split like some other Hollywood break-ups.
