Sam Asghari Swears He’s Not Challenging Prenup Amid Britney Spears Divorce
Sam Asghari filed for divorce from Britney Spears earlier this month after only 14 months of marriage. For years, there was speculation Sam was with Britney mainly for her fame and fortune. And given their shocking divorce, the speculation has become more intense than ever.
There have been reports that Sam is planning to challenge the pre-nuptial agreement he signed prior to marrying Britney. He’s become the subject of intense backlash online, which prompted Sam to finally address the rumors.
"There are many claims that Sam is challenging the prenup and threatening to exploit his ex-wife with videos," Sam’s representative said in a statement.
"However, all these claims are false, as no negative intention has ever been directed towards her and never will be,” he continued, adding, "Sam has always and will always support her."
Sam’s divorce filing caused speculation he was challenging the pre-nup, as court documents said, “[Sam] has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligations of each party.”
"There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, the full nature and extent of which are unknown to [Sam] at this time,” it went on. It's been confirmed he's requesting spousal support.
Prior to Sam’s statement, it was reported that he was threatening to release embarrassing information about his estranged wife unless he was guaranteed a generous divorce settlement.
“[Sam is] attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid,” an insider claimed to Page Six. “So that’s what Sam is focused on,” they added.
Before their 2022 nuptials, it was reported that Sam’s prenup demands were delaying the wedding planning, while Britney preferred not to be directly involved in the negotiations.
As per OK! Magazine, a source at the time said, “The talks have been taking longer than usual. Sam wants substantial increases for every five years they are married, should it end.”
“[Sam wants to ensure he doesn’t] end up penniless if they separate,” they went on.
“Britney’s staying out of the entire process,” the source continued. “She’s just letting her lawyers hash it out with Sam’s team.”
Only a day after their September 2021 engagement, Sam turned to social media to assure fans they’d be signing a prenup. “Thank you for your concern about the prenup!” he wrote. “Of course, we’re getting iron clad prenup to protect my Jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day.”
Sam and Britney’s divorce remains ongoing.
