Sam Asghari Will Make Nothing From Britney Spears Divorce If Prenup Holds
Even though reports suggest Sam Asghari plans to challenge his prenup with Britney Spears, if the agreement holds steadfast in court, the actor stands to make nothing from their divorce, as they were only married for a little over a year.
As per Hollywood Life, the prenup entitles the Iranian-born entertainer to $1 million for every 2 years of marriage, which would cap at $10 million following 15 years married. However, since they never made it past the 2-year mark, Sam may walk away with nothing.
Additionally, Sam agreed in the prenup to wave any rights to Britney’s discography. His name also isn’t on their house (rather, it was incorporated into an LLC).
Sam filed for divorce earlier this month, citing “irreconcilable differences.” “[Sam] has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligations of each party,” court documents reveal, which some have taken to imply that he wants to challenge the prenup.
"There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, the full nature and extent of which are unknown to [Sam] at this time,” the filing, made by Sam’s lawyer, continues.
Moreover, multiple reports have suggested Sam is trying to negotiate more money out of Britney in exchange for not going public with intimate details of her personal life.
“[Sam is] attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid,” an insider claimed to Page Six. “So that’s what Sam is focused on,.
Following allegations he wants to challenge the prenup, Sam made an official statement through his representative denying the claims.
“There are many claims that Sam is challenging the prenup and threatening to exploit his ex-wife with videos,” his rep said. “However, all these claims are false, as no negative intention has ever been directed towards her and never will be. Sam has always and will always support her.”
Prior to their 2022 nuptials, it was reported that Sam’s prenup demands were delaying the wedding.
As per OK! Magazine, a source at the time said, “The talks have been taking longer than usual. Sam wants substantial increases for every five years they are married, should it end.”
“[Sam wants to ensure he doesn’t] end up penniless if they separate,” they continued.
Britney and Sam’s divorce remains ongoing.
