More than 1,000 contestants have performed live on The Voice since its premiere on NBC in April 2011. Over the course of 28 seasons, producers have selected participants from a pool of millions who submit audition tapes and attend regional casting events. At the start of each season, 48 contestants are split into four teams of 12, with each team mentored by one of four celebrity coaches. Contestants must first pass blind auditions to advance to the Battle Rounds, where two singers from the same team compete for one place in the next stage.
