Weapons' Prequel Gladys Is Greenlit After Amy Madigan's Oscar Win

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie kicked off to $34.5 million from 3,821 theaters on Wednesday, the best opening day of the year to date. To put the numbers in perspective, Project Hail Maryopened to $33.1 million, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie posted $31 million on its opening day. The two Super Mario films premiered on a Wednesday, whereas most wide releases, including Project Hail Mary, open on Friday.
