10 Lowest-Grossing Scarlett Johansson Movies Of All Time

Scarlett Johansson is one of our favorite bombshells in the industry, and she's actually one of the highest-paid women in Hollywood. While we know you probably love her as Black Widow, adore her voice acting in Her, or are in love with her romantic flicks like Marriage Story. However, not everything this woman does can be brilliant.

While we know she's been apart of some pretty incredible blockbusters, she's also been a part of some flicks that didn't do so well. While some may be hidden gems, you might just want to avoid some of the others. Here are Scarlett Johansson's 10 lowest-grossing films, based on Domestic Gross and according to Box Office Mojo.

10 The Man Who Wasn't There (2001) - $7.5 million

This classic crime drama is directed and written by the Coen Brothers, and definitely proves that this list is full of hidden gems. Only raking in $7.5 million, this film managed a 7.5/10 on IMDb, and stars Billy Bob Thornton and Frances McDormand.

An eccentric barber blackmails his wife's boss and his lover for money, but his plan goes awry. Scar-Jo is Birdy Abundas, and takes a pretty impressive secondary role. We told you that you shouldn't judge a flick based on its box office, and this is definitely a good start to prove that. We can recommend this hidden gem.

9 North (1994) - $7.2 million

This was actually Scarlett Johansson's very first acting credit. So, we know you probably still want to give it a watch if you're a die-hard fan. However, it didn't rope in a ton of cash, and only scored a 4.5/10 on IMDb.

Directed by Rob Reiner, this movie stars Elijah Wood, Bruce Willis, Jason Alexander, and Johansson is also in the midst (as a little gal). A young boy searches the world for new parents, after being sick of their neglect. Honestly, this cast and crew is pretty phenomenal, and while this movie didn't do super well at the box office or with the critics, we still think it's worth your time.

8 Ghost World (2001) - $6.2 million

Two friends are about to graduate high school, and these two are devious and seeking some direction in life. So, they respond to a man's newspaper ad for a date, and this ends up complicating their lives to extremes.

Starring alongside Steve Buscemi and Thora Birch, Johansson takes one of her first lead roles. Sure, it didn't do well at the box office, but it actually did pretty well with the critics. This is definitely a hidden gem to watch to see where she got her start.

7 Hitchcock (2012) - $6 million

This biography crime drama tells the story of Alfred Hitchcock and his wife, Alma Reville, during the filming of the infamous film, Psycho (1960). Starring Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren, you probably are already intrigued. Johansson takes the third leading role as Janet Leigh.

Although this movie didn't gross a whole lot, it actually scored decently with the critics, and this flick definitely deserves more credit. Who doesn't want to watch a film about the making of a classic? We're going to venture to say that $6 million isn't an accurate reflection of this movie's worth.

6 Under the Skin (2013) - $2.6 million

This sci-fi drama stars Scarlett Johansson, and she plays a young woman who seduces lonely men at night. The catch is that she's actually an alien entity, and the men she finds are prey.

This is a classic alien-finding-their-humanity type of film, but it is at least interesting. Clearly, its small release made it a film that definitely flew under the radar. Still, this is an intriguing sci-fi flick from this decade that stars your favorite leading lady.

5 If Lucy Fell (1996) - $2.4 million

This is an older one and definitely throws it back to the early days of Johansson's career. Starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Eric Schaeffer, and Ben Stiller, this movie follows two roommates in NYC who have a pact to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge if they are still single at 30. Of course, that time is getting close.

Young Johansson has a secondary role, and this is probably one of the few on the list that we don't recommend watching. For starters, you can see how the plot is pretty problematic and distasteful. Plus, it did badly at the box office AND with the critics, so, watch at your own risk.

4 An American Rhapsody (2001) - $850,000

This movie is actually a Hungarian film but was still produced and launched in the United States by Paramount. A young Hungarian girl is reunited with her parents in the USA after being left behind from their flight in the 1950s.

Johansson actually takes a more leading role in this one, and this is definitely a hidden gem. This is a story that isn't told as often as it should be, and it scored pretty well despite raking in a pretty low amount of revenue. We still think this movie is wholesome and inspiring, and is definitely worth your time.

3 Manny & Lo (1996) - $502,000

This is an older film, too, but once again a young Scarlett Johansson takes the leading role. A pregnant teen and her younger sister run away from their foster home, and end up kidnapping a woman who they think can help with the pregnancy. Johansson is the younger sister, Amanda, and Aleksa Palladino is Laurel. Mary Kay Place is the kidnappee, Elaine, and works at a baby supply store.

This movie is wholesome and hilarious, and we're surprised this flick didn't pull in more revenue. Of course, this is a small-release film that probably deserves way more credit.

2 A Good Woman (2004) - $238,600

Scarlett Johansson stars alongside Helen Hunt and Tom Wilkinson in this romantic comedy. This is actually based on a play by Oscar Wilde, and this movie is actually a pretty decent adaptation.

Taking place in the 1930s Italy, an American man forms a secret relationship with a wealthy woman, of course, unbeknownst to his young wife. This cast is pretty spectacular, and honestly, it ended up being pretty decent. Barely breaking $200,000 might not intrigue you to watch it, but we suggest it for romantic movie lovers, and of course, all Johansson fans.

1 A Love Song for Bobby Long (2004) - $164,300

Scarlett Johansson is also the lead in this one and plays a stubborn and headstrong woman who has to return to New Orleans after her mother's death. However, her mother's house is occupied by two men, and one is an old alcoholic, Bobby Long (John Travolta).

This film is definitely a hidden gem, and we're not convinced it even got released or marketed at all. It managed a 7.1/10 on IMDb, and tells an incredible story. This is definitely one movie that proves that box office revenue isn't everything, and we definitely suggest giving it a watch.
