Robby Anderson Signs Two-Year, $20 Million Contract With Panthers
One of the top free agents remaining on the free agent market has found a new team.
On Tuesday, the Carolina Panthers signed former New York Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson to a two-year contract worth $20 million. ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news.
Anderson signed with Carolina on the same day they officially released starting quarterback Cam Newton, the first overall pick from 2011. His departure was all but confirmed after Carolina signed Teddy Bridgewater to a three-year, $63 million contract.
The 26-year-old Anderson is coming off another productive year in which he caught 52 passes for 779 yards and five touchdowns. His best season came in 2017, when Anderson recorded 63 receptions for 941 yards and seven touchdowns.
But the Jets were unable to do much offensively despite Anderson's talents. He should do wonders on a Carolina team that boasts one of the best offensive units.
New head coach Matt Rhule (previously the head coach at Baylor) will have Bridgewater Anderson, 1,000/1,000 running back Christian McCaffrey, Curtis Samuel and D.J. Moore to work with. All the pieces are in place for the Panthers to have a top-tier offense in 2020.

The NFC South should feature four powerful offenses in 2020. The New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons should be among the highest scoring teams. The Panthers will likely be up there with these new additions. And of course, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers added New England Patriots legend and six-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady in free agency.
The Saints are the favorites to win the division for a third straight year, but their NFC South foes certainly gained some ground with some savvy moves.
It's also a good contract for Anderson, who will have the opportunity to reset his value in 2022 free agency. If he produces well in Carolina's offense, Anderson should be able to land another major contract in two years.
