Tom Brady's $50 Million Contract With Buccaneers Is Fully Guaranteed

Earlier this week, it was reported that Tom Brady was signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was finally made official on Friday.
Brady took to Instagram to reveal that he was headed to the Bucs after 20 glorious years with the New England Patriots. Brady announced on Tuesday that he was leaving Foxborough.
And after years and years of hometown discounts with the Patriots, the soon-to-be 43-year-old finally received fair market value in free agency.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Brady's contract is for two years and $50 million. Every single penny of the contract is guaranteed, and it carries $4.5 million each season. There's also a no-trade clause in the deal, ensuring that Brady won't play anywhere else over these next two years.
It's extremely rare for a player to receive a fully guaranteed contract when they sign in free agency. Kirk Cousins received such a deal two years ago with the Minnesota Vikings ($84 million over three years). Now, the six-time Super Bowl champion can breathe easy about having every cent of that $50 million in his back pocket.

And as a bonus for Brady, he's playing in Florida, which carries no state tax. The Los Angeles Chargers were reported to be the other team involved in the Brady sweepstakes, but they fell short. Had he signed there, he'd be playing 13.3 percent in California state tax.
According to Spotrac.com, Brady's $25 million pay is tied with Philip Rivers and Drew Brees for eighth-highest among all NFL quarterbacks. Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks will take home $53 million in cash, tops in the NFL.
Multiple reports suggested that Brady didn't even talk to the Patriots about a new contract, and that his departure was largely based around a tense relationship with head coach Bill Belichick. Whatever the case, Tampa Bay now owns the most accomplished quarterback in NFL history, and it promises to change the landscape of the entire league.
