NFL Plans To Release 2020 Season Schedule On Thursday

There was speculation that the NFL would have to push back the announcement of the 2020 season schedule, but there won't be any delays whatsoever.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the league is set to announce the 2020 schedule this Thursday at 8 p.m. EST.
Owner Roger Goodell stated last month that the plan was to put the schedule out by May 9. As it turns out, the league will have gotten it out two days before that deadline.
Unsurprisingly, the league also announced on Monday that there wouldn't be any international games for the 2020 season amid the COVID-19 pandemic. It is still unclear if the NFL will be able to start the season on time, and if they'll be able to have fans in attendance.
The 2020 schedule will see the NFC South play the AFC west, the NFC North vs. the NFC North vs. the AFC South, the NFC West vs. the AFC East and the NFC East vs. the AFC North.

The NFC West will play the entire NFC East, while the NFC North will play the NFC South. The entire AFC West will get the AFC East on its slate, while the AFC North will play the AFC South.
Right now, the plan is for the season to begin on Sept. 10. League tradition would see the defending Super Bowl champions (in this case, the Kansas City Chiefs) host the Thursday night Kickoff Game. Last year, the Chicago Bears hosted the historic rival Green Bay Packers in the first game of the season to celebrate the milestone 100th NFL season.
The current plan is for the postseason to begin on Jan. 9, with Super Bowl LV taking play at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay on Feb. 7. If the start of the season is delayed, however, the league will most likely have to push that back, especially if they're keen on a 16-game season.
