[Report] NFL Could Have Fans Sign COVID-19 Waivers To Attend Games
If NFL fans hope to attend games this upcoming season amid the COVID-19 pandemic, they may be required to sign waiver forms.
Citing sources, Daniel Kaplan of The Athletic reports that the league is mulling the idea of "requiring fans attending games this season to sign liability waivers shielding the teams from COVID-19 lawsuit."
Kaplan added that this idea will likely be sent to teams next week as they try to find ways to allow fans into the stadiums. Right now, the league is on track to begin the 2020 season as originally scheduled.
Last week, Kaplan reported that the league will allow all 32 teams to decide how many (if any) fans they want inside their stadiums for games. Whether it's full capacity, half capacity or no fans at all, teams will have freedom.
Last week, it was reported that the NFL is expecting to open up training camp on July 28. The Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers were to take part in the annual Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 6, but it was canceled.
Week 1 of the 2020 preseason is currently scheduled to begin on Aug. 13, but on Thursday, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported that the league is canceling Weeks 1 and 4 of preseason action. The NFL hasn't confirmed this.
