Pete Davidson And Colin Jost Buy The Staten Island Ferry For $280,100
Saturday Night Live stars Pete Davidson and Colin Jost have just spent $280,100 to purchase the Staten Island Ferry - a ship that is currently decommissioned due to mechanical issues. As it currently stands, the ship cannot even be powered up, and was put up on the auction block in an effort to get it removed from the waters. Those wondering why these two celebrities would invest such a substantial amount of money into such a defunct vessel will be surprised to hear the grand plans they have in store. This ferry, named the JFK, will soon become one of Staten Island's most prominent hot spots, and fans can hardly wait to watch as this project comes to fruition.
Pete Davidson and Colin Jost are respectively worth $8 million each, and they have spent their money in various ways over the years, including real estate, and luxurious vacations. Those seem to be common shopping sprees among the rich and famous, but the most recent purchase they made together is drawing a lot of attention as being one of the most unique celebrity purchases that fans have ever witnessed.
The Staten Island Ferry, a ship that was previously boarded by families for free, has just been sold to Jost, Davidson, and real estate broker and comedy club owner Paul Italia have teamed up to take ownership of the vessel by dropping an astounding $280,1000 to take ownership.
Interestingly, they found it in an auction, where it was listed as being in "poor condition," and is described as having a series of mechanical issues. It is a structurally sound boat, but currently doesn't even start and has been decommissioned due to its inability to properly function.
The comedy pals and their investment partner have high hopes for this ship, and plan to repair it into proper working order as quickly as possible. Their vision for the ship, is to ultimately craft an in-water entertainment vessel for fans to enjoy. Italia commented on this ambitious project, stating; “The idea is to turn the space into a live entertainment event space, with comedy, music, art, et cetera." He went on to say; “We’re in the early stages, but everybody involved had the same ambition — not to see this thing go to the scrapyard."
There's no telling how long it will take to overhaul the vessel and create this epic party experience, but one thing is for certain - the ship has to be moved quickly. Italia, Jost and Davidson have been given 10 days to get the boat out of the St. George Ferry Terminal. They are currently in talks with local shipyards to find a temporary home for their new purchase.
Fans are excited to see what's in store for this party ship, and can't wait to see the final product.
