The Peter Dinklage Lifestyle: 8 Ways Tyrion Lannister From 'GoT' Earns And Spends His Millions

He’s best known for his performance as Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones and won four primetime Emmys and a Golden Globe for the part, but Peter Dinklage has been building a successful career for over a decade.

The New Jersey native was born with a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia and stands at 4 feet 5 inches but hasn’t allowed his condition to slow him down.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Dinklage began taking parts in his elementary school’s theater, playing the lead in the production of The Velveteen Rabbit. Graduating from Bennington College with a drama degree in 1991, it took Dinklage another decade to land noticeable roles, often playing a dwarf or Tom Thumb character, though he’s always been careful not to accept roles that make his stature a stereotype.

It wasn’t until 2003, Dinklage began appearing in films like Elf, Death at a Funeral, X-Men: Days of Future Past among others. With a net worth of $25 million, Dinklage is now set to take on the role of crooning, jousting poet in the new movie musical Cyrano.

How does Dinklage earn and spend his fortune today?

8 Theater Star

Dinklage has played in off-Broadway’s “The Killing Act” written by Tom McCarthy and took on one of his dream roles at the Public Theater in “Richard III” in 2004. According to Biography, he also appeared in the London production of Charlie Kaufman’s “Theater of the New Ear” alongside A-lister Meryl Streep and Hope Davis.

7 Television Roles

Throughout Dinklage’s professional theater career, he began taking roles in television with reoccurring roles in “Life As We Know It” and “Nip/Tuck” as a love interest to Joely Richardson’s character.

While the star has participated in dozens of movies throughout his career, it was television that cemented his role in Hollywood. “Game of Thrones” ran from 2011 through 2019 in a series based on George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” fantasy novels. Dinklage played Tyrion Lannister, a dwarf of noble birth and he won Emmy Awards in 2011, 2015, 2018 and 2019 – a record for a supporting role actor. He also became the second highest paid star in the series, behind Emilia Clarke at $500,000 per episode.

6 The Big Screen

Prior to his “Game of Thrones” days, the 59-year-old landed his breakout role in 2003’s “The Station Agent”, followed by the Christmas classic, “Elf” and a string of successful films since. While simultaneously playing his famous role on television, Dinklage took roles in 2017’s “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”, “2018’s “I Think We’re Alone Now” and “Avengers: Infinity War” later that year.

5 A Memorable Voice

The star has a distinctive, deep voice, leading him into animated films and video games. Dinklage voiced the role of Captain Gutt in “Ice Age: Continental Drift” in 2012, The Mighty Eagle in “The Angry Birds Movie” in 2016 and again as the voice of his own Lannister character in the video game of the same television series.

4 Production Company

Dinklage and his business partner David Ginsburg created Estuary Films in 2016. “I Think We’re Alone Now” was the first film to be produced by the company in which Dinklage starred alongside Elle Fanning and produced as well. The production company is behind the newly developed Netflix series “How to Become a Tyrant” according to Estuary Films.

3 A Life-Long Vegetarian

Since the age of 16, Dinklage chose to be an advocate for animal rights. He has served as the spokesman for Walk for Farm Animals through the Farm Sanctuary organization. The staunch PETA supporter has also served as the voice behind “Face Your Food” a film by the organization as well as appearing in various campaigns, encouraging animal adoption vs. breeding and more.

2 Real Estate

Born and raised in New Jersey, Dinklage has chosen to stay close to home in many ways. While the actor and his wife, Erica Schmidt have kept their family out of the spotlight, rumors are, he owns a home in Morristown, New Jersey, bought for $4.7 Million. We know he owned a home in New York City for nearly 20 years and moved away in 2012. The most we’ve been able to report since then is the actor and his family live in upstate New York.

1 Driving Around Town

Ever the quiet and private family man, Hot Cars reports the star only owns one main mode of transportation. His Chrysler 300 has been designed specifically for Dinklage and his short stature, and those custom specs probably cost a pretty penny but works for getting around town.
