Floyd Mayweather Urged To Pay Logan Paul Before The FBI Gets Involved
Logan Paul is still struggling to collect his $14 million fight purse from Floyd Mayweather after their blockbuster exhibition match last summer, and now UFC legend Chael Sonnen is warning the champ to pay up before the FBI gets involved.
Sonnen, a former UFC fighter who is widely regarded as one of the greatest trash-talkers in MMA history, didn't mince words when he weighed in on the controversy.
"Big problem for Paul," Sonnen said on his YouTube channel. "He signed a contract with The Money Team. That's a big problem.”
Sonnen says that The Money Team, which is Mayweather's brand, isn’t a real business. The former fighter says that instead, it's a “one-way bank account” that money flows into and never out of. He believes this could cause problems for the boxing champ, telling him to get ahold of Paul's people and pay up "before the FBI gets called in to look at the issue.”
"Big problem for Floyd if he received funds, and he did. So this story is going to be ongoing. But if you are team Floyd, you are gonna wanna lawyer up real fast,” he said in the video. “You're gonna want to make a deal and you're gonna want to pay Logan Paul."
Paul recently admitted that the fight was the highlight of his career, but said it was a mistake to allow The Money Team to control the cash involved in the fight. Mayweather earned an estimated $100 million from the match, while Paul is still waiting on the $14 million he bagged.
Mayweather defended himself on a recent episode of The Pivot Podcast, telling Paul that “it comes with the territory” because "back-end" money from these events comes in hand with time.
“To them, that's real money, and I like the YouTubers. The money on the back-end though, from pay-per-view, that takes a while. Nothing comes right away. I'm still collecting checks from fights seven or eight years ago. They just hate it when the table is turned.”
Furthermore, he said that The Maverick should “be happy" with the biggest payday he has ever had in his life.
Paul recently said that Mayweather has hit him up for a rematch but it doesn't look like The Maverick has any interest, he declined and told the champ to "suck a d--k."
