Meek Mill Defends Billionaires Like Jay-Z After Lil Duval Diss
Meek Mill is defending his billionaire friends after Lil Duval tweeted on Friday that “real billionaires see humans as livestock” and asked his fans to remember that before “glorifying” and praising the world’s richest people.
The comedian tweeted, “Real billionaires see humans as livestock. Remember that next time your glorify and praise one,” on Friday night without mentioning any specific names.
Leading up to the tweet, Lil Duval claimed that “it takes a whole lotta inhumane s—t to be a billionaire,” and that he refused to believe they were on “God's side,” later adding that he refused “to believe billionaires go to heaven.”
Meek was quick to fire back at the comedian, defending his billionaire friends like Jay Z, 76ers owner Michael Rubin, and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Kraft famously visited Meek when he was doing time at a Pennsylvania state prison, calling him “an amazing young man” and speaking out about prison reform. Rubin also spoke out against Meek’s imprisonment and was instrumental in his release.
“I got some black, white asian billionaire friends ….. this a lie!” the rapper tweeted back at Lil Duval.
He named a few of his billionaire friends in a follow-up tweet, writing, “Jay and mike one of them! They do a lot and don’t have to verses people who make millions and don’t do nothing for their own people!”
Meek teamed up with Jay-Z last month to put their weight behind a proposed New York State law that would block lyrics from being used during trials. The two also work alongside each other for the Free Meek documentary series, which followed his ongoing battle with the criminal justice system.
While Meek Mill is far from being a millionaire with an estimated $20 million fortune, he teamed up with his billionaire buddies Jay-Z and Rubin to be part of a group that plans on purchasing the vintage team jersey maker Mitchell & Ness. Lil Baby and Tik Tok’s D’Amelio family were also named in the $250 million purchase.
Some fans called out the rapper for defending the ultra-wealthy, claiming that his association with the billionaire class didn't mean he was their friend, and his apologetics toward them made him their employee. Others reminded him that he once had to hop around like a rabbit on a tennis court after losing a bet while his billionaire friends watched.
