3 Details of The French Village Estate

Johnny Depp has purchased the French Village in 2001 for undisclosed amount. Over the years, he has spent millions on renovating the 19th-century estate. It was reported that he made the estate French themed because he was in a relationship with French actor and singer Vanessa Paradis whom he had a 14 year relationship. The two has spent most of their time in the village with their two children named Lily-Rose and Jack. The family seems to be enjoying the French Village as it has everything they need to keep them entertained.

The estate has 4,500-square-foot space of main residence. Upon exploring the estate, one can see the lush surroundings and the stunning 300-year-old oaks, vineyards and olive trees. It was reported that Johnny Depp decorated the structures of the village himself. He even built a bistro onsite called Chez Marceline. The square footage of the living spaces on the village is reported to be around 12,900 up to 14,500 square feet.

2 Features and Amenities of The Estate

The estate has five bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths on the main residence while there are six guest homes scattered all over the village. It was reported that the guest houses built used to be the town’s church. The village has a lot of astounding features including the covered wagon with a bath and kitchen, a pirate like lair which is expected for the Pirates of The Caribbean actor Johnny Depp, an art studio and a full gym. There is also an outdoor dining located on the town square of the village. The village features a beautiful private residence to the Depp family. The entire village has all the luxurious amenities needed by an A-lister celebrity like a wine cave, a skate park, a bistro and numerous houses. The village is also loaded with charm with its aesthetically pleasing bathrooms and bedrooms dispersed in the village.

The 19th-century village is located about 17 miles away from the hot spot among celebrities, Saint-Tropez. Depp bought the property during the height of his Pirates of the Caribbean films franchise. He made sure that he will turn the place into an idyllic place to live with his family while he and Vanessa Paradis enjoyed the estate and the local surroundings of the estate. Aside from the bedrooms in the mainhouse, there is a total of 15 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms scattered in the living spaces of the village. It was reported that Depp has spent about $10 million to preserve the stone-and-wood-beamed structures of the village without destroying the original features. There is also a restaurant in the village with a full professional kitchen, a massive garage and even a laundry building.

1 Listing The Property

Johnny Depp has listed his French Village since 2015 and still has no luck in selling the place. Depp first listed the property for in 2015 and 2016 with the price wavering from $25 million to $63 million. He just relisted it again last year for $55 million. Depp’s French Village has more than a dozen buildings and when it was first listed on June 2015 with the Côte d’Azur Sotheby’s International Realty, it was priced roughly around $26 million. The initial listing was taken off the market just after a few months. It was then listed yet again but with Michaël Zingraf of France-based Michaël Zingraf Real Estate and Rick Hilton of Hilton & Hyland. Both of the firms mentioned are exclusive affiliates of the Christie’s International Real Estate. Depp has sold about eight art works by the artist Jean-Michel Basquiatt through the Christie’s International Real Estate which gave him a total of $14.6 million.

Pirates of the Caribbean actor believes that the first listing was way below its appropriate price and it was Depp who decided to list the property for $55 million. According to Depp, the property is most ideal for the buyers who are seeking privacy. Several billionaires have already inquired about the property however to this day, the property remains to be in the hands of Depp.
