D. L. Hughley Claps Back At Mo’Nique Over Contract Dispute: “It’s YOU!”

D. L. Hughley has clapped back at Mo’Nique after the comedian called him out during a stand-up gig over the weekend. While onstage at the Fox Theater in Detroit, Mo’Nique shocked fans when she claimed D. L. refused to take the stage after her, despite signing a contract stipulating that she would be the headliner—but D. L. fired back—telling the comedian that people paid money to laugh, not hear about her contract.

During her diatribe on Saturday, Mo’Nique said that she specifically signed onto the show as the headline act and accused D. L. of threatening not to perform if he had to follow her.

“That's what the mother--king contract says. Mo'Nique is to be the last mother--king person on the god damn stage. She is the headliner. That's what I signed the contract for," Mo’Nique shouted.

The Precious actress then inexplicably waded into a homophobic rant, even though D. L. is happily married to a woman with whom he shares three children.

“N--ga, your name is D.L., what the f--k does it stand for?" She angrily spouted. "How far are you bending over n--ga? On the DL.”

The DL Hughley Show host wasn’t here for it and quickly shot back on Instagram.

“All you have to do is check the order of names on the ticket stub from last night and you’ll see who’s confused,” Hughley wrote. “Against my better judgment, over the objections of my team and 4 other occasions where I said NO, I decided to take a chance and work with Monique.”

Oprah was the problem,” he continued. “Tyler Perry was the problem, Charlamagne was the problem, Steve Harvey was the problem, Lee Daniels was the problem, Netflix was the problem… Now it’s MY turn.”

The comedian concluded: “At some point it can’t be everyone else, IT’S YOU!! Lesson learned. I didn’t have anything personal against Monique… People paid a lot of money to laugh, not hear about your contract. Apparently, the role you played in PRECIOUS turned out to be an autobiography. I wonder who’s next…”

The former Dancing with the Stars contestant cheekily paired his response with a picture of Mo’Nique in her role as the antagonist in Precious.
