Kylie Jenner Slammed For Being Cheap After Leaving Small Tip On $500 Bill
Kylie Jenner has been valued at $1 billion, but having a massive fortune in the bank doesn’t make you a good tipper, apparently. The makeup mogul recently came under fire for leaving a small tip on a huge restaurant bill.
A TikTok posted in July 2020 is making the rounds online again to expose poor celebrity tipping practices. The original poster, Julia Carol Ann, used to work as a hostess at a “fancy Manhattan restaurant” where she had a lot of encounters with famous faces.
In the video, Julia rates her interaction with a variety of celebs, including Hailey Bieber and Gigi and Bella Hadid. But her experience with Kylie Jenner stuck out like a sore thumb.
Julia claims that Kylie once left a $20 tip on a dinner bill worth $500. “She was fine, but she tipped $20 on a $500 dinner bill,” she told the camera. “Do with that information what you will.”
In the United States, diners are encouraged to leave a tip anywhere between 15-20%. Higher tips are meant to reward better service. A tip of that number would’ve been around $100 on Kylie’s bill, so either the reality star was being stingy, or she was very unhappy with her server.
Not all of the Kardashian-Jenners are bad tippers, apparently. Kylie’s older sister Khloe Kardashian has been praised for her generosity. The Kardashians star once gave a waitress $3,000.
Similarly, Kim has made headlines for tipping even more than her bill was worth. In 2015, for example, she apparently left a $300 tip on a bill that was only $200 while dining with friends.
Then again, others have claimed Kim will dine without leaving any gratuity. “Waited on Kim Kardashian and [Caitlyn], when still Bruce, and no tip,” one person wrote on Reddit.
“A couple of my friends worked in one of the hotels Kim and Kanye stayed at here in Ireland on their honeymoon,” another person wrote. “Both were very generous tippers and that’s not even our culture here.”
Of course, there’s no way to verify if the allegations (good or bad) are true, so fans will just have to decide for themselves whether they believe the Kardashian-Jenners are bad tippers. But with so much money to their family’s name, it's hard to imagine they wouldn’t be generous with their gratuity.
