The Highest-Grossing Jamie Foxx Films, Ranked | TheRichest

There are very few celebrities who began their career as a stand-up comedian, and then successfully transitioned to both the acting and music industries. The comedy king Eddie Murphy tried it and wasn't half as successful as a musician as he was an actor. But Eric Marlon Bishop, professionally known as Jamie Foxx, was a different breed altogether. Born on December 13, 1967 in Terrell, Texas, he first began telling jokes at a comedy club's open mic night before joining the cast of In Living Color in 1991. He soon became the star of his own show titled The Jamie Foxx Show, which lasted from 1996 to 2001, by which time he has already landed his acting debut beside the late Robin Williams in Toys (1992).

Foxx's limitless mindset drove him to embark on a music career, which also showed promise, landing him collaborations with rappers like Ludacris and Kanye West. But, undeniably, his acting career has garnered him the most recognition. Here are ten of Jamie Foxx's highest grossing box office success films, ranked.

10 White House Down - $205.4 Million

During former President Obama's term in the White House presidency, Jamie Foxx has been a vocal supporter of the 44th President of America. He campaigned for Obama while running for his second term in office and, when he was re-elected, he basically praised him as his own savior! Therefore, it would make sense that in the political action thriller, White House Down, Foxx plays the role of the American President, James Sawyer, who becomes the target of a group of mercenaries led by Emil Stenz, played by Jason Clarke. Also starring alongside Foxx is A-list actor Channing Tatum, who plays the role of an Afghanistan veteran who works as a Capitol Police at the White House. He uses his veteran army skills to protect the president after a bomb is detonated in the U.S Capitol, shutting down all of Washington D.C. The film grossed $205.4 million at the box office.

9 Horrible Bosses - $212.4 Million

Throughout Foxx's career, the one thing that truly sets him apart from the rest as a comedian is his ability to adapt. His dynamic acting style and willingness to step outside of his comfort zone leaves him open to countless opportunities. One of those opportunities came in 2011 in the comedy, Horrible Bosses, starring Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis. The three act as Nick Hendricks, Dale Arbus, and Kurt Buckman respectively, who are friends that each share a deep hatred for their bosses. When Kurt casually suggests over drinks that their lives would be happier if their bosses were out of their lives, they reluctantly agree to decide upon hiring a hitman to get the job done. That hitman would be an ex-convict named Dean "Motherf**ker" Jones, played by Jamie Foxx, who was still funny despite being in a more "serious" role. The film went on to gross $212.4 million worldwide.

8 Valentine's Day - $217.5 Million

Foxx may be known for his comical and at times serious roles, but his capacity also extends to romantic comedies as well. The film depicts the huge cast of characters each living out their individual romantic love story, yet still intertwined to bring about a favorable outcome of love, just in time for Valentine's Day. Jamie Foxx plays the role of a sports reporter named Kelvin Moore, who is the love interest of Kara Monahan, played by Jessica biel. The film went on to gross.

However, he unintentionally gets caught in the middle of a deadly killing spree after offering his services to a man named Vincent (Tom Cruise), who poses as someone who has come to Los Angeles to close a business deal. However, Max quickly learns that Vincent is a hitman, and has paid him to be his personal driver to transport him to the various locations where his targets will be, many of who are police informants. Although Baby Driver is an action film, there is some dark humor thrown in to lighten the mood. Foxx also stretched the limits of his artistic range with the role he plays in the film, which is that of a sadistic henchman named Leon "Bats" Jefferson III. The entire movie surrounds a highly skilled getaway driver named Baby, played by actor Ansel Elgort, who survived a car crash as a child that killed his parents and left him with tinnitus. As a result, his driving skill is enhanced whenever he listens to his favorite songs through his headphones. Bats is a part of a crew of robbers put together by Doc (Kevin Spacey) which includes Buddy (Jason Hamm) and his wife Darling (Eiza González). However, the heist goes awry after Bats kills one of the security guards. Baby then decides to leave the country with his girlfriend, Deborah, embodied by star actress Lily James, after Doc has a change of heart and lets him go.
