Jill Duggar Cashes In On New Tell-All Book ‘Counting The Cost’
For years, the Duggar family made a fortune from reality television. But after 19 Kids and Counting was cancelled in 2019, many of the family members had to find alternative streams of income to compensate.
Though the family is known for being tight-knit, several members have made headlines for speaking out against the Duggars, particularly in the wake of Josh Duggar’s conviction for possessing child sex abuse materials.
Most recently, Jill Duggar has come forward to share her experience growing up in the ultra-religious family, and she’s apparently getting a nice pay check to do so. Jill is releasing a new book alongside her husband Derick Dillard titled Counting the Cost, which is expected to release in January 2024.
“We would like to announce that we have written a book, Counting the Cost, which details our painful journey as part of the reality-show-filming Duggar family,” the couple announced on their website and social medias.
“As the picture on the cover conveys, the book is meant to reflect a story that has been difficult, yet hopeful,” they continued. “The challenges we have faced, including lack of respect for boundaries, greed, manipulation, and betrayal, are not that much different than what many people in our audience have faced.
In the book, Jill is expected to touch on a variety of topics, including why she gave a televised interview on Megyn Kelly defending her brother Josh after he was exposed for molesting Jill and several of her sisters during their childhood.
Derick and Jill also recently appeared in the new docuseries Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets, where Jill claimed her family forced her to do the Megyn Kelly stint. The couple were likely paid for the appearance.
It’s unknown how much Derick and Jill are making from the book deal, but it’s likely a pretty penny, given how much speculation there is surrounding the Duggar family. The first tell-all memoir, for example, reportedly earned $15 million, setting an industry standard.
Derick and Jill may also have a stake in the sales – the more book copies they sell, the more money they make. The book is currently available for pre-order at $30 a piece.
Interestingly, Jill isn’t the only one of her siblings to release a tell-all book. Jinger Duggar did it first, when she came out with a book last year.
